Surface movement radar sensor of K-band SMR «Atlantika»

Surface movement radar sensor of K-band SMR «Atlantika» is intended for aircrafts movement control on aprons, during steering, starting and landing, for detection and surveillance of special vehicles, technical means, located in landing strips, taxiways and platforms.  Availability of surface movement radar system is necessary for airport attestation for ICAO III category.

SMR «Atlantika»  is corresponds to state standard RF GOST R 51505-99. Certified by Interstate Aviation Committee. Certificate of ¹292 type 27- th March 2012.

By instruction of Federal Agency of Air Transport  of the Ministry of Transport of Russia is recommended for installation in airports of Russian Federation. SMR «Atlantika» has better resolution capacities and accuracy of measurements than analogues operating in X-band, having significantly less dimensions of antenna (up tp2,5m). Single station detects target with EDA 1 m² under rain 16 mm per hour at the distance not less then 3,5 km.

Operating with A-SMGCS “VEGA” , included equipment for displaying and processing of radar information, consisting of several (up to 12)  radar unified terminals, connected by local network, SMR «Atlantika» automatic capture and tracking of more than 100 targets simultaneously and displays radar picture on the background of electronic map with symbols of tracking objects. Radar  provides uninterruptable record of display images up to several days. Radar also has playback and archiving regimes of screen image records, using standard informational tanks.  To provide reliable classification of observable air objects, radar cans get information from Automatic System of Air Transport Department.  SMR «Atlantika» is equipped with radar dome.  Antenna and transmitter are combined in single unit – radar module. SMR «Atlantika» is manufactured in two modifications depending on type of radar module and antenna. SMR «Atlantika» is a component of SMCC «Atlantika».

This is combined image of view from dispatcher tower and processed image from radar terminal imposed on the airport map. Dispatcher can see arrived aircrafts trajectories are marked by green lines. Frequency of marks is equal to aircraft speed.  System registered an aircraft before landing and assign to it a number 67, which will stay till departure.  Also on the screen you can see other objects with numbers on  aprons and  strips. Moving objects can be identified on green trail. Please pay attention to the object in the low-middle part of screen.  It’s ground-vehicle which will track aircraft up to apron.  It doesn’t have a number.  It was done intentionally so the dispatcher could distinguish up aircrafts and ground vehicles. In latest version of program aircrafts are imaged as pictograms and ASAMC  “SINTEZ” connected with radar appoints aircraft number and flight number for every aircraft. Yellow marks are consequences of signals reflection from surface imperfections and buildings.
